Chapter 6 is the third of the implementation chapters. The questions underpinning this chapter are both theoretical and practical. How do you understand the complex interaction of individuals and teams in the swampy lowlands of your organization and in your action research project? How do you work with individuals, team and across teams in your project?
There are three points to this chapter. One is that at times you may understand that individuals’ behaviour and attitudes are embedded in the teams of which they are members and so you may work with teams in order to progress your project. Secondly, how you work with an individual and how you work with a team are different and require different skills. Thirdly, you will need to know how individuals and teams are connected so that what happens in one team may have an impact in other teams and on individuals.
