Possible answer to: How have therapeutic communities overlapped with other approaches within mental health, including addictions? 

This point is dealt with in the chapter. To a large extent, contemporary mental health care and policy has been playing a game of catch up with the goals, ideals and practices of TCs. There is common ground in terms of seeking recovery goals, and increasing interest in peer support and coproduction. Initiatives like Star Wards and Enabling Environments have taken inspiration and borrowed heavily from TCs. The authors of the chapter also argue persuasively that aspects of the new recovery movement may not be as progressive as they may appear on the surface.
