Activity 33.2: Critical thinking

The intention of this activity is for the student to visualise acne and to appreciate how it must feel to be conscious of the difference in appearance from ‘normal’ skin. The student should be able to consider the dilemma the patient has in choosing the instant relief of picking or squeezing comedones but potential long-term scaring against leaving the acne to be treated over time. It is hoped the student can apply empathy to their nursing care.
