If you were to educate a family or group of carers which approach (in theory) could you use?

It is unlikely that a group of carers are going to accept a didactic approach, it is therefore better to adopt a more active and collaborative approach. There is a tendency for people to want to discuss the patient’s conditions and they will want to feel able to ask questions if anything is unclear. Offering additional information leaflets after discussion (if they are available) is also helpful.

You need to consider their capacity to learn and understand the information you are offering.
