Chapter 23: Aseptic technique and specimen collection

Journal Article 1: This article describes risks associated with infection and indwelling urinary catheters. It acknowledges the importance of focusing on care in settings outside acute healthcare facilities and describes a programme of audit in order to improve the care that patients receive who have these devices in situ. Issues relating to urine specimen collection were identified as an area of practice to improve.
