Case Studies
Case Studies help students to see research in practice and demonstrate how theory is applied in real life situations.
Case Studies can be used as a Teaching Resource or Learning Resource.
Teaching Resource
You can write your own case studies, or you can select 5 cases from SAGE Business Cases and/or SAGE Research Methods Cases. If you are including case studies in the textbook, you can provide teaching notes, discussion questions and possible answers.
These examples from Cornellissen: Corporate Communications, 6e and Spiller: Direct, Digital & Data-Driven Marketing, 5e demonstrate the range of comprehensiveness that you can include.
Learning Resource
You can write your own case studies or, where appropriate, you can select 5 cases from SAGE Research Methods Cases.
- Choose 1–2 case studies per chapter
- Give a short description of what is covered in the case study (either as a short paragraph or bullet points)
- Include 2–3 questions to help students understand and analyse the case study
This example from Flick: Introducing Research Methodology, 3e shows how a SRM Case can be used.
SAGE has a template for Case Studies which we can supply for your use.
