To ensure academic integrity and avoid plagiarism, third-party content must be identified with proper attribution when used within the material.
- Presentation Decks:
- Include an abbreviated attribution adjacent to the specific content asset on the slide.
- Include a References slide at the end of presentation decks which lists the full attribution. This References list can also be printed and distributed to attendees with any additional handouts.
- Handouts: Include full attribution on each handout containing third-party content.
- Additional Materials: All third-party content must be clearly and properly attributed within the materials.
Format and Placement
- When reusing third-party content under the terms of an agreement, it’s important to adhere to any format or placement requirements indicated by the rightsholder.
- If no requirements, please follow standard formatting, aiming for consistency throughout the materials. APA style formatting is the publishing industry standard. Common examples of citation formats can be found on the Citation Examples page.
