Cooper, B and Glaesser, J. (2011) ‘Using case-based approaches to analyse large datasets: a comparison of Ragin’s fsQCA and fuzzy cluster analysis’, International Journal of Social Research Methodology, 14 (1): 31–48.

This article very much expands on the comparison of cluster analysis and the software fsQCA, which is explained in Chapter 7 of Kent (2015). There is also a clear explanation of fuzzy cluster analysis.

Hair, J., Black, W., Babin, B. and Anderson, R. (2010) Multivariate Data Analysis. A Global Perspective. Upper Saddle River, NJ: Pearson Education.

Chapter 7 in this well-respected textbook explains discriminant analysis (and logistic regression, which is covered in Chapter 6 in Kent (2015)). Chapter 9 is a very detailed account of cluster analysis with lots of examples.

Uprichard, E. (2009), ‘Introducing cluster analysis: what can it teach us about the case?’, in Byrne, D. and Ragin, C. (eds), The Sage Handbook of Case-Based Methods. London: Sage Publications.

A succinct and very clear introduction to the uses and types of cluster analysis.
