Counselors make many ethical judgments throughout the day. Based on what you know now, what are the most important things a counselor can do while working through an ethical dilemma?
As a counselor, we must actively show cultural sensitivity in all aspects of the therapeutic relationship. Is it necessary for a counselor minimize the impact their values pay in the therapeutic relationship? Why or why not? If so, how could a counselor go about this process?
A counselor cannot come to the therapeutic relationship “value-free” or neutral. How might you work with a client ethically when there are stark personal differences between you and the client? Is it okay to “refer out”? Why or why not? What are the ethical implications?
