Equipment you’ll need:

• Piece of wood or cork
• Bowl of water
• Magnet

Method:

• Place the piece of wood or cork in a bowl of water so that it floats
• Place a small magnet on top and observe the magnet rotate until the north pole of the needle points towards the magnetic north pole
