Density ladder set up (a)

In this experiment, the principle of density is shown. The different densities of the liquids that are used and the fact they do not mix with each other, keep them in their own layer. Different objects are then dropped in the ladder. The equipment you will need for this experiment include:

  • A beaker with alcohol
  • A beaker with oil
  • A beaker with water
  • A beaker with detergent
  • A beaker with cola
  • A beaker with glycerol
  • A beaker with syrup
  • 7 pipettes
  • A test tube
  • Clamp stand

Method:

  • Using the pipette, place syrup in the test tube
  • Using the pipette, place glycerol in the test tube
  • Using the pipette, place cola in the test tube
  • Using the pipette, place detergent in the test tube
  • Using the pipette, place water in the test tube
  • Using the pipette, place oil in the test tube
  • Using the pipette, place alcohol in the test tube
  • Straighten the test tube on the clamp stand
