Find a Venue
http://www.pollstar.com

Go to Pollstar and type in your city. Who are the most active venues in town? How many events have they booked? When? Who is selling tickets? How much are they? Ask these questions from the point of view of the manager of a touring act. Which venue would be best for your act?

Budget a Show
Once you find a venue, use Table 16.1 to calculate a budget.
Assume one live performance in concert of a major recording artist plus one supporting act in a 10,000-seat venue with all seats priced at $30 each.

Estimate your Gross Income on a reasonable expectation of sales. What is the net potential? What is the split point?

Summarize how you would promote the concert described above. List materials and where and how you would get them. Discuss timing of press releases, press conferences, and interviews.
