The League of Resident Theatres (LORT)

The Broadway League

The Broadway League is the national trade association for the Broadway industry. Their 600-plus members include theater owners and operators, producers, presenters, and general managers in North American cities. Each year, League members bring Broadway to more than 30 million people in New York and more than 240 cities across the United States and Canada.

In recent years, some producers have begun to reduce the size of live orchestras and replace musicians with recordings or synthetic music. As these producers cut back on live music in the not-too-distant future, it could result in the complete replacement of live orchestras with canned music.

Actors Equity

Equity, founded in 1913, is the labor union that represents more than 49,000 actors and stage managers who present live theater in the United States. Equity negotiates wages and working conditions and provides a wide range of benefits, including health and pension plans, for its members.

Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC)

SDC is the theatrical union that unites, empowers, and protects professional stage directors and choreographers throughout the United States by providing effective administration, negotiations, and contractual support.

United Scenic Artists (USA)

Allied with IATSE in 1999, USA is organized to protect craft standards, working conditions, and wages for the entertainment and decorative arts industries working in film, theater, opera, ballet, television, commercials, and exhibitions.
