This website contains information about the ten principles which form the UN Global Compact for businesses in the areas of Human Rights, Labour Rights, Environmental Responsibility and Anti-Corruption. They are derived from four internationally agreed UN Declarations or Conventions. The most important for HRM matters are those which relate to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Labour Organisation’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, covering the first six of the ten principles.

This website is dedicated to Marks & Spencer’s CSR initiative. It contains extensive documentation about the initiative itself, the targets, reports which chart the company’s progress towards those targets, examples and cases, together with recorded interviews with key people involved. There are links to partner organisations, charities and other relevant agencies. It complements the material in the chapter Case Study.
The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) http://www.cipd.co.uk/
This is the UK’s professional body for HRM practitioners and provides nationally recognised qualifications in HRM both directly and via accredited college and university courses. Many of its research reports, guides and practical tools are available to non-members and they include information about topics such as HR’s role in CSR, policies and advice on matters like bullying, whistle-blowing, fair recruitment, employee welfare and much more.

The ILO provides a touchstone for employment standards around the world. It aims to promote rights at work, encourage decent employment, enhance social protection for workers and encourage dialogue between employers and their workforce on work related issues.
