  • David Damberger: What Happens When an NGO Admits Failure
    This 13 minute TED talk is by a Canadian who participated in the Engineers without Borders Program in India and Africa.  He determined that the Aid System is broken in the development sector.  New wells created water supplies, but no thought was given to maintenance.  The organization was not learning from mistakes until it embraced talking about failures and publishing failure reports.
     
  • Madeline Albright:  On Being a Woman and a Diplomat
    This 13 minute TED event is an interview with former Secretary of State, Madeline Albright.  She points out how the tone and goals of conversation change with women at the table.  Having other women in the room for support is critical.  She encourages women to support each other rather than criticize or diminish the contributions of women to an organization.
     
  • Taking Root: The Vision of Wangari Maathai Kenya
    This 7:46 minute video clip is on pbs.org/independentlens/classroom/women website.  It features the Nobel Peace Prize Winner who empowered women in Kenya to plant trees.  It credits the Greenbelt Movement for tackling dwindling natural resources, poverty and oppressive government practices by giving the women information.  Women have gained rights and the ability to change the world through these empowerment efforts.
