An interpretative phenomenological analysis of interview data: people on the renal waiting list consider deceased versus living donors

This dataset is designed for teaching Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) of interview data. This data exemplar is drawn from a study conducted by Dr Johanna Spiers, from the University of Bristol and Professor Jonathan A. Smith, from Birkbeck University, on the experiences of people waiting for a kidney transplant in the United Kingdom. The example will be most useful to those embarking on an IPA project and for those who wish to strengthen their experiential qualitative analysis skills. The dataset file is accompanied by a teaching guide and a student guide.

Learn about time series plots in SPSS with data from the NOAA Global Climate at a Glance (1910–2015)

This dataset is designed to teach how to plot a time series for a single variable. The dataset is a subset of data derived from the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Climate at a Glance website, and the example explores the average global ocean temperature measured annually from 1910 to 2015. The dataset file is accompanied by a teaching guide, a student guide, and a how-to guide for SPSS.

Learn about simple regression in SPSS with data from the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study (1998)

This dataset is designed for teaching simple regression. The dataset is a subset of data derived from the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study, Kindergarten Class of 1998–99 (ECLSK) at the National Center for Education Statistics, and the example examines whether reading performance in kindergarten is predicted by family income in the United States. The dataset file is accompanied by a teaching guide, a student guide, and a how-to guide for SPSS.

Qualitative longitudinal interview data: men's transition to fatherhood

This dataset explores some of the practices involved in analysing qualitative longitudinal interview data. The data used in this exemplar is provided by Dr Fiona Shirani and Professor Karen Henwood, from the Cardiff School of Social Sciences, Cardiff University, from the ‘Men-as-Fathers’ (MaF) research project, and the example explores extracts from one participant’s interviews over time to highlight the detailed perspective that a qualitative longitudinal case study approach can provide. The dataset file is accompanied by a teaching guide and a student guide.
