Qualitative social network analysis: visualising and analysing the personal networks of suffragettes

This dataset focuses on qualitative social network analysis. The data used is provided by Dr Gemma Edwards, from the University of Manchester, and are taken from research she conducted on the personal social networks of suffragettes. The aim of this research project was to explore how ordinary women at the turn of the twentieth century became involved in the militant campaign for ‘Votes for Women’ in Britain. The exemple illustrates how visualisations and qualitative data can be used in dialogue to analyse social networks qualitatively. The dataset file is accompanied by a teaching guide and a student guide.
