- The Coca-Cola Happiness Machine advertisement. In 2009, Coca-Cola Co. was looking for a new way to connect to young consumers. Instead of spending on traditional media or Super Bowl ads, they came up with the ‘Happiness Machine’ concept. Coke installed a vending machine in a cafeteria at St. John’s University in Queens, N.Y.
