What should you know when you start your human geography dissertation?

• Dissertation work is unique from previous work you will have completed because it requires original research. We have to pose a question, collect data to answer that question, and reach a conclusion that makes a contribution to geography. In other words, it is a study that we independently design, do, and deliver.
   
• The best way to start your own project is to be prepared. Check out your own institutional guidelines and handbooks, talk to students who have been through the process already, look at completed dissertations held in your department or school, consult the marking criteria, and be organised!
