Extended Reading

The following list of journal articles and books provide extended reading on topics covered in chapter 16 in the second edition. Please note that journal articles are free to access, whereas book extracts (denoted by methods.sagepub.com URLs) require your university to have a subscription to SAGE Research Methods.

Reinard, J. C. (2006). Communication research statistics. London: Sage.
Reinard offers some illustrations and further details on correlations, what they mean and how they can be calculated.

Achen, C. H. (1982). Interpreting and using regression. Thousand Oaks, CA: Sage
Achen in a little green book on ‘Interpreting and using regression’ explains the ideas in this chapter at a more advanced level but in and engaging and useful way. This is an oldie but a goodie.

And finally, if you want to see me talking about how we might go about selecting which methods to use for any specific research project, check out this video.
