Video Interview: Nick Caddick and Tom Kersey
Getting to grips with narrative analysis
In this video, Nick Caddick and Tom Kersey discuss the process of doing a narrative analysis. They talk about getting to grips with the underpinning conceptual language of narrative, how to go about doing an analysis that doesn’t specify a process or procedure in advance, and questions that help the researcher to explore their data.
Nick Caddick is Senior Research Fellow and Deputy Director of the Veterans and Families Institute at Anglia Ruskin University in the UK. His research explores the stories that veterans and others tell of their experiences of war and conflict, and the impact of stories and narratives on social understandings of war and its legacies. He has written and co-produced articles and book chapters on qualitative research and has taught narrative inquiry at post-graduate level and at international teaching seminars. He is currently working on a book exploring the cultural politics of veterans’ narratives.
Tom Kersey is a PhD student in the Veterans and Families Institute at Anglia Ruskin University in the UK. His thesis explores the narratives that army veterans use to describe their experiences of living with chronic pain.
