For useful statistical information on crime and justice in Scotland, the Scottish Government ‘Crime and Justice Statistics’ web pages provide a high-level summary of statistical trends in crime and disorder, policing, violent crime, drugs and alcohol, and criminal justice processes including sentencing, imprisonment and criminal justice social work. Additional links on each page will take you to more detailed statistical bulletins and spreadsheets containing raw data that allow further analysis. These can be accessed on the Scottish Government website at http://www.gov.scot/Topics/Statistics/Browse/Crime-Justice?utm_source=website&utm_medium=navigation&utm_campaign=statistics-topics

To conduct more detailed secondary analysis of the Scottish Crime and Justice Survey datasets for research purposes, see the data from the UK Data Service, which also contains details of the survey questionnaires, technical reports and metadata. You will also find a wide range of other crime data sets here that may be of interest, including both survey data and administrative data sources. To register to use this service and access the crime datasets, visit the UKDS website at https://www.ukdataservice.ac.uk/get-data/themes/crime
