Student Notes

In this final chapter of the book, we explore Scotland’s place in the world, in the context of debates about globalisation. In particular, we will:

  • define ‘globalisation’ as conventionally understood.
  • ask whether the concept helps analytically to make sense of the modern world.
  • apply it to Scotland, with a view to understanding the wider political and cultural implications.
  • re-examine the nexus between politics, economics and society so as to re-balance our understanding of Scotland in the modern world.
